The Corporate Law Teachers Association (CLTA) was formed in 1994, and
represents corporate law scholars in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific
region. The goals of the CLTA include:-
- Advancing corporate law teaching, research and scholarship
- Promoting cooperation and exchange of ideas between corporate law
scholars in the region
- Promoting active cooperation between corporate law teachers and
universities
- Promoting cooperation with professional legal associations and law
reform agencies
- Hosting an annual conference to highlight current developments in
corporate law scholarship
Membership of the CLTA is free, and we invite all university teachers of
corporate law and associated subjects to join. Membership is available to
postgraduate research students in the field of corporate law, who
are also warmly encouraged to join the association.
Message from the President
Welcome to the CLTA. Our association is a strong community of corporate law scholars that share common teaching and research aims.
The 'community' meets at least once a year in a highly regarded conference and
we are all looking forward to our next one being held by the School of Business
Law and Taxation, University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney in February
2008. The Conference theme is "Securities Class Actions, Creditors Rights
and Enhanced Corporate Governance: The Dawn of A New Age?" I
would encourage any visitors to our site to follow the links to the 2008
Conference website.
Last year the CLTA Executive worked on increasing the amount of teaching related material available
on our webpage. After the success of the Teachers' Forum at the 2007 Conference,
it was decided to make that a prominent feature of the 2008 Conference. The
Teachers' Forum will form part of the 2008 Conference Program, rather than
having it on the Sunday preceding the Conference.
We have also added a new section for "Upcoming Events". Please let me know of any relevant upcoming evens so that we can add that to our Webpage. I also encourage you to make me aware of any new books or other that you have published or any corporate law teaching achievements so that I can send out a global email to inform members about the activities of our members.
As an Association we are fortunate to have some funds available because of
successful Conferences held in the past. It is one of my aims as President
to try and identify ways in which we can spend some of these funds in promoting
the main aims of our Association. I would like to invite all Members to provide
me with ideas.
Please send any email messages regarding CLTA matters directly to me at jean.duplessis@deakin.edu.au.
